Terms of Service

Effective October 27, 2026 · Privacy Policy

These terms are an agreement between you and [Operator: your full legal name or company name] ("we", "us"), who run Dragonbred, the dragon breeding game on the web and the iPhone. By creating an account or playing, you agree to them and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't play.

Who can play

You must be at least 13 years old. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent's or guardian's permission, and they agree to these terms for you. Some countries set a higher age for using online services without a parent's consent; where that applies, it applies here too.

Your account

You sign in through our sign-in provider. Keep your sign-in safe: you are responsible for what happens on your account. Tell us at [contact email] if you think someone else has used it.

You can delete your account at any time from Settings. Everything in the account goes with it, including unspent Embers and Instant Cards. What else deleting does is described in the Privacy Policy.

The game and what's in it

Everything in Dragonbred, including dragons, eggs, crates, cosmetics, Scales, Embers, Instant Cards, levels, Daily Pass rewards and memberships, is part of the game. When you get any of them, by playing or by paying, you get a personal, limited licence to use it in the game. You don't own it, and it isn't money or property.

  • Scales and Embers have no cash value. They can't be exchanged for real money, cashed out, or transferred outside the game. Embers are bought with real money, belong to your account and are spent on what the Store prices in them; Scales are earned in play and come as a bonus with some things you buy, but aren't sold on their own.
  • Dragons don't last forever. A dragon can lay only so many clutches, and it can die laying one: the chance grows with each clutch it has laid and with how inbred it is, and it always dies laying its last. The game shows a dragon's chance before you breed it. A dragon that dies, or that you release, is gone, however you got it.
  • We can change the game. We may change how breeding, odds, prices, items, rewards and features work, add or retire things, and fix mistakes, including correcting items or Scales that came from a bug. We try to do this fairly and to tell you about changes that matter.
  • Things can end. Limited items, like a featured crate, can leave the Store; sealed ones you already have keep working unless we say otherwise.

Buying things

You can buy Embers, Instant Cards and a monthly membership with real money. Prices are shown before you pay.

  • On the iPhone, purchases go through Apple and its terms; refunds are handled by Apple.
  • On the web, purchases go through Stripe.
  • What you buy is delivered to your account straight away. Because of that, purchases are final and not refundable, except where the law gives you a right to a refund, which these terms don't take away.
  • Instant Cards are used up when you use them.
  • A membership renews automatically every month, and you're charged for each month until you cancel it. Its price is shown before you subscribe. Each paid month gives you that month's Instant Cards and the member perks the Store lists while it lasts. You can cancel at any time: on the web from "Manage subscription" in the Store, and on the iPhone in your Apple account's subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; the membership runs to the end of the month already paid for.
  • Deleting your account cancels a membership billed by Stripe. It can't cancel one billed by Apple: cancel that with Apple first.
  • If a payment is refunded or charged back, we take back what it bought: the Embers, Instant Cards or Scales it gave (for a partial refund, that share of them), and a membership month refunded in full or charged back ends straight away. What you've already spent isn't taken below zero, but we may suspend an account over it. If the refund or chargeback is reversed, we give back what we took.

Crates and odds

Crates hold random contents. The Wooden Crate is bought with Scales; the Iron and Lava Crates with Embers. Crates also come as Daily Pass rewards and can be bought sealed from other keepers. A crate's odds are shown in the Store before you buy, and every crate is opened by chance: a crate never promises a particular dragon, look or item unless the Store says it does (for example, "a morph guaranteed"). Odds can change between crates and over time; the Store always shows the current ones. The free crate in the walkthrough is the exception: it is packed for the lesson, not drawn by the Store's odds.

Daily Pass

The Daily Pass gives a reward each day you come back and claim it, for thirty days, then starts again. Everyone gets the free reward; members also get the member reward, including those of the days already reached. A missed day pauses the pass.

Inviting friends

Every keeper has an invite link and code. A new keeper who joins with your link, or types your code in within seven days of signing up, becomes your friend in the game. An account can be invited only once, and that can't be changed later.

  • Your friend gets a Friend Crate once they finish or skip the walkthrough. You get one when your friend first reaches level 5, up to 10 a calendar month (UTC); a friend who reaches level 5 after you've had that month's 10 brings no crate. Each of you collects your own crate in the game.
  • A Friend Crate is a gift: it can't be sold or traded, and neither can the dragons that come out of it. They're yours to keep and breed, and their babies can be sold like any other dragon.
  • You can't use your own code, and you can't be invited by a keeper you invited.
  • One account per person. Inviting fake, duplicate or automated accounts isn't allowed. If we find abuse, we may withhold rewards, take back Friend Crates and the dragons that came from them, and act on the accounts as described under "Reports, blocks and enforcement".
  • We may change the rewards and limits, or end the program. Crates you've already collected stay yours unless they came from abuse.

Trading with other keepers

The market and direct trades let keepers exchange dragons, sealed crates and cosmetics for Scales.

  • Trades are between players. We run the market but we aren't a party to your trade, and we don't guarantee what another keeper offers or what they know about a dragon.
  • Only a dragon that has never bred can be sold or traded.
  • A fee is taken from the seller's Scales on each sale (10%, or 5% for members). Fees are removed from the game.
  • While something is listed or offered on, it is held by the game until the sale, offer or trade ends.
  • Trading outside the game for real money is not allowed. Selling, buying or swapping accounts, dragons, items or Scales for money or anything outside Dragonbred can lead to the items being removed and the accounts suspended.

What you write

You can give names to yourself (your username) and your dragons, add a short note to an offer, and write labels and reports. You're responsible for what you write. You keep the rights to it, and you give us permission to show it in the game and on its public pages for as long as it's there.

Names and notes must not be offensive, hateful, sexual, threatening, misleading (for example pretending to be another keeper or the game), or infringe someone else's rights. We may refuse, change or remove any name or note.

Playing fair

Don't:

  • cheat, use bots or scripts, or exploit bugs (report them instead);
  • interfere with the game, its servers or other players' accounts, or try to get around limits and security;
  • use more than one account to manipulate the market, prices, leaderboards or rewards;
  • harass, threaten or abuse other keepers, or impersonate anyone;
  • break the law, or help anyone else do any of the above.

Reports, blocks and enforcement

You can report keepers, listings and names, and block keepers, from their profiles and listings. We review reports. If someone breaks these terms we may, depending on how serious it is: change a name, take down a listing, remove items or Scales that came from cheating or a bug, suspend an account, or close it. Where we can, we'll tell the keeper what we did and why, in the game's inbox. If you think we got it wrong, write to [contact email].

The service

We work to keep Dragonbred running, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. It may be down for maintenance, change, or one day close. If we ever close the game, we'll give notice in the game first.

Dragonbred is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we disclaim warranties of any kind, and we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost data, or lost virtual items. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before it. Nothing here limits liability that can't be limited by law, or your rights as a consumer where you live.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If a change is important, we'll tell you in the game before it takes effect. If you keep playing after that, the new terms apply; if you don't agree, you can delete your account.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of [state / country], and disputes go to its courts, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring them where you live.
